We are looking for a highly qualified Senior Government Liaison Officer who will support in developing and maintaining DRC’s relationship with key Ministries and institutional actors. The SGLO will work directly with the Programme Quality and Development Unit to ensure all new projects are developed, submitted and approved in line with Jordan laws and regulations.

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, working in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. With the vision that no displaced person must be in want of help to find protection and durable solutions, DRC provides assistance and protection to conflict-affected in many of the major conflicts in Asia, Africa and Middle East. The assistance can consist of relief and other humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and support to returning home, and the promotion of durable solutions. 
 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
MOPIC and JORISS Reporting (40 %)  
• Review DRC Jordan’s application and reporting system for JORISS  
• Develop offline templates and design process for applications and reporting in order to improve efficiency  
• Keep up to date with any planned changes to the system and adapt templates accordingly  
• Liaise with managers for data collection, reports and analysis as required by Jordanian authorities 
• Be the focal point for compiling and submitting project information for MoPIC applications and ensure all projects are submitted on time and with required information  
• Liaise with sub-grant partners to ensure the process is clear and all documents are received and uploaded on the system  
• Lead and complete the MOI and MOPIC reports liaising with HR, Finance, Programmes and Grants Managers.  
 
Organizational Learning (30 %)  
• Map and document DRC’ current engagement with all government stakeholders and keep up to date contact list of local and national Government contacts 
• Contribute to a government stakeholder mapping and keep updated power and stakeholder analysis related to Jordanian authorities 
• Monitor national media for government statements and perspective on the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan and share bi-weekly one page update to the PQD manager for wider circulation  
• Keep abreast of government developments regarding humanitarian/resilience coordination and brief the PQDM on changes or relevant issues affecting DRC.  
 
External Relations (30 %)  
• Attend Monthly Government Liaison meetings and take an active role  
• Support DRC’s efforts to maintain transparent relationships with relevant counterparts within the Government of Jordan  
• Meet with other Agencies reporting officers and take an active role in cross- organizational learning and networking  
• If required, support senior management in representing DRC with Jordanian authorities, local municipalities, as well as coordination bodies and line ministries.  
• Ensure that Arabic/English translation of documents related to Jordanian authorities are factually and grammatically correct 
 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have:  
 
 
Required qualifications/ experience 
• B.Sc. in law, public administration, political science or equivalent. 
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in government or government liaison role; 
• Knowledge of Jordanian legislation and policies related to INGO work in the country 
• knowledge of governance and administrative structures within the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, experience from working inside a governmental structure considered an asset 
• Demonstrated competencies in drafting official letters in Arabic. 
• Experience in humanitarian work considered an asset. 
• Excellent communication skills and diplomatic approach 
• Ability to operate and work independently; 
• Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills 
• English and Arabic – Fluent

We offer 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 month contract including three month as probation period, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work as soon as possible and be willing and able to work in Amman –Jordan. 
 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals. This position will be placed at Grade E.
