GOAL are looking for a full time Head of Global Fundraising and Marketing (HGFM) to join the team in an exciting time of organisational development. The HGFM will support GOAL’s work through development, implementation and monitoring of GOAL’s global Public Fundraising and Marketing strategy. The role reports directly to the General Manager and as such will be a member of the GOAL Senior Management Team sharing collective responsibility to deliver the organisation's strategy and vision. Initial contract for 12 month.

Overview of the role

The HGF will lead a dedicated team of donor care and fundraising personnel to provide the necessary vision, leadership, and fundraising skills which will enable the organisation to achieve its fundraising targets.

They will have substantial fundraising, marketing and management experience, a talent for building teams and relationships and a proven track record in securing funds from public, trust and foundations, corporates and major donors and a strong understanding of the governance and regulatory.

Main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Driving a leadership role in the organisation creating a sustainable fundraising and marketing global function which is high performing and ensure the highest standards of donor care and retention.
  • Leads the team in engaging the public in a motivating call to action which showcasing Goal’s impact amongst poor and vulnerable communities in the developing world and build trusts amongst supporters
  • Develops and manages a continual assessment and improvement of GOAL’s current fundraising strategy and activities on a global level and ensures a strong performing return on investment.
  • Leads the annual fundraising and marketing planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across the range of donors (individual, corporate and major donors)
  • Perform general management duties for the fundraising team including the development of annual plans, budgets, reports and evaluations and the production of monthly reports for the Management team.
  • Produce cost-effective budgets to achieve action plans.
  • To work closely with the Communications Department to drive awareness of the impact of GOAL programmes to support income generation
  • To oversee the retention and growth of GOAL’s public donor base through the development of a public donor communications plan
  • In cooperation with the Senior Management Team, lead the development of any long-term strategy to achieve agreed long term organisational goals

Senior Management

The HGFM is a member of GOAL’s senior management team and as such the post-holder will be expected to play a proactive role in the management of the organisation, including:

  • Organisational strategic planning
  • Organisational development
  • Income and expenditure budget planning and management
  • Advising members of SMT on the availability of funds and the viability of obtaining funds to support initiatives
  • Attending board meetings to report and give advice on fundraising matters

Person Specification

Essential

  • Not less than five years experience in a similar role
  • Successful, significant and relevant achievement at management level in a comparable national/international organisation
  • Strong understanding of CRM systems, life time donors management and digital
  • Exceptionally convincing and persuasive written and oral skills with the ability to present and convey complex ideas and issues clearly and coherently
  • Experience of building strength of an organisation brand for charity/business development
  • Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets
  • Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder, client and donor relationships
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategic and business plans
  • The ability to influence, persuade and build confidence and trust at a senior level across GOAL in order to ensure collaboration, cross boundary working and the integration and alignment of communications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of legislation and regulations impacting on the charitable sector
  • High level of numeracy, budgeting and IT skills.
  • Experience managing team members remotely, with the ability to motivate and support without day-to-day interaction.
  • Proven analytical skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice, to major global cities and GOAL’s operational locations.

Our package includes a competitive salary, 22 days annual leave and the possibility to join our Health care scheme. Additional benefits are available after 12 months of service. Salary range for this role is € 70,000 to 80,000. Candidates must be entitled to work in Ireland at the time of application.
