Senior GBV Caseworker Assistant (National Contract)

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified GBV Caseworker to conduct focused PSS intervensions with survivors.

About the job 

The candidate will be working in Tripoli’s office with the Protection team under case management and will be providing case management and conducting focused psychosocial support interventions with women, girls, men and boys at risk of or survivors of gender-based violence 
 
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

 

1. In compliance with best-practice and international standards in GBV response, provide direct psychosocial support for vulnerable women and girls, men and boys and particularly GBV survivors. At all times, ensure the safety and respect of the survivor, in addition to the confidentiality of his/her information and his/her right to access services without any discrimination.  

2. Provide case management services through high quality and confidential interventions in line with minimum standards for service provision and DRC’s case management SOPs. This will include assessment of needs, development of an action plan for recovery, development of a safety plan when needed, conducting referrals to relevant services, implementing the action plan and ensuring appropriate follow up and case closure when appropriate.  
3. When needed, liaise with DRC’s lawyer to ensure that GBV survivors receive legal counselling in line with the case plan, whilst ensuring that safety considerations have been addressed in order to protect the survivor. This is especially applicable for complex cases such as custody claims or pressing criminal charges. 
4. When needed, liaise with DRCs psychologist to ensure that GBV survivors receive mental health services through a tailored treatment plan to empower survivors to cope and overcome the trauma that results from GBV violations. 
5. File and store GBV data in the gender-based violence information management system (GBV IMS) in compliance with the information sharing protocol developed at the inter-agency level 
6. Ensure the utmost confidentiality of case management data and information throughout the case management process; including protection referrals 
7. Safely identify and refer all children engaged in child labour or early marriage and their caregivers to DRC’s focused PSS programs, especially children of survivors receiving case management services 
8. Deliver focused PSS in line with global and national inter-agency SOPs/standards to adolescent girls. Ensure that the girls are registered in focused PSS activities without creating stigma and/or judgement. Deliver safe identification and referral training to DRC staff, including sessions on the GBV core concepts and guiding principles 
9. Create a safe space where participants can voice their opinions, thoughts and emotions, share experiences and brainstorm on solutions in a confidential and respectful manner 
10. Provide emotional support group sessions to women and girls at risk of or survivors of gender based violence in compliance with best-practice and DRC’s guidelines  
11. Receive referrals from different agencies, develop an action plan and appropriate response to each case. Ensure that informed consent/assent is taken before opening a case, and prioritize intervention according to risk level

 

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have bachelor in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field  
Moreover, we also expect the following:

 

Required  

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of survivor at all times  
• Excellent knowledge of GBV, child protection, CP case management and PSS basic principles, excellent facilitation skills 
• Excellent knowledge of the negative impacts of early marriage on the individual, family and community level 
• Excellent knowledge of the negative impacts of child labor on child development  
• Excellent knowledge of child development and adult learning techniques 
• Excellent communication and psychosocial first aid skills 
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) 
• Female Candidates are encouraged to apply  
 
Desirable 
• Above 1 year of experience as a GBV or a child protection caseworker 
• Master degree in gender studies, social work and/or psychology. 
• Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings 
• Previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon

We offer 

Contract length: 1 month, until end of December 2017 
Level: B+1, Monthly Basic Salary: 1450 USD 
Duty Station: Tripoli 
Start date: Late November – First December
