The Child Protection Specialist (Information Management System) will develop and support the work of the office on the coordination, deployment, technical support and monitoring of Primero and other platforms, an innovative child protection information management system for case management and referral and monitoring violations committed against children.

How can you make a difference?

The Child Protection Specialist (Information Management System) will develop and support the work of the office on the coordination, deployment, technical support and monitoring of Primero and other platforms, an innovative child protection information management system for case management and referral and monitoring violations committed against children.

The Child Protection Specialist contributes to the achievement of concrete and sustainable programme/project results according to plans, budget allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology, and UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance and accountability framework.

This involves:

  1. Programme development, planning and management
  2. Advisory services and technical support
  3. Advocacy, networking and partnership building
  4. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
  5. Management support

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or other social science field is required.

  • A minimum of eight years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection and/other related areas at the international level, some of which preferably were served in a developing country, is required.

  • Relevant experience in child protection and related areas, programme/project development and management in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ICT and information management systems is key to this role and required.

  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
