The United Nations Department of Field Support is responsible for the delivery of services that satisfy the requirements of the Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support (DPKO/DFS) missions as well as Special Political Missions (SPMs).


The Information and Communications Technology Division of DFS has implemented a range of civilian and military field technologies to address the requirements of peacekeeping operations that have been identified as strategic enablers to make peacekeeping more effective and efficient. Partnerships and bi-lateral sponsorships with member states and other entities are being developed  to facilitate the introduction of innovation and modern technologies to support mandate implementation in UN Field Missions.  


Functional Responsibilities

The incumbent for this post will be placed in the UN Department of Field Support and will report to the Director of the Information and Communications Technology Division (ICTD).

The Business Intelligence Architecture Analyst will play a technical role in RDM team in Valencia. Under the overall supervision of the RDM Business Solutions Manager in New York, the incumbent will directly work under RDM Delivery Lead or his designate in Valencia.
1. Collect user requirements, design, build, optimize and maintain conceptual and logical database models using HANA and SAP BW tools.

2.  Design HANA views and BW datamodels (DataStore Objects, Infocubes, Infoobjects) using SAP Hana Studio, SAP ECC and SAP Business Warehouse solutions, in order to ensure analysis of data is effective and secure.

3. Plan, manage and monitor Business Intelligence development activities for Supply Chain Management reports, in order to ensure all business requirements are delivered on time at the agreed quality standards

4. Perform Business Intelligence requirements analysis and propose reporting and visualization technical solutions, participating in the implementation and post-implementation support.

5. Document and implement development processes and practices for SAP Business Warehouse and SAP HANA data models.

6. Track, document and report status of ongoing projects/activities, identifying risks and potential setbacks and proposing alternative course of action when required.

7. Provide technical and functional orientation sessions for Umoja Business Intelligence, providing user support and troubleshooting incidents and problems.

8. Liaise with SAP Basis and other operation teams to provide recommendations on performance, security, and user interface of BI solutions.

9. Perform other duties as required

Impact of Results 

The result of work of the Business Intelligence Architecture Analyst impacts directly on delivery of services that satisfy the requirements of the Department as well as the performance of the services implemented in the DFS/DPKO field missions and headquarters. It will also ensure proper processes and methodologies are followed and implemented according to the latest of the industry standards.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Administration,  Engineering, Finance or related fields. A first level university degree with a combination of 2 years’ relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. High school diploma with additional years of relevant experience may be accepted.
Experience:

Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible technical and architecture experience in SAP BO, BW and HANA Technologies.
  • Solid 2 or more years of experience in architecture and developing BI solutions in enterprise environment.
  • Strong experience in user requirements, designing, building, optimizing and maintaining conceptual and logical database models.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
  • Good knowledge of SAP ECC and SRM 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of latest self service BI technologies (Qlik, Power BI etc)
  • Experience of Project Planning tools like Project Server
  • PRINCE 2 Practitioner Certification
  • SAP Certifications
Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in written and oral English is required. Knowledge of a second UN language is desirable.
