POSITION SUMMARY:

The Programme Assistant will be located in the Population Devevopment (PD)/Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Youth Teams of the UNFPA Country Office in Vientiane, Lao PDR. He/She will work under the overall supervision of and report directly to the National Programme Analyst – M&E

Job Purpose:

• Ensure effective and efficient programme and administrative support to all PD/M&E and Youth team members and consultants of the PD/M&E and Youth Teams with support to other teams as required
• Contribute to safeguarding the compliance of established policies, rules and procedures of UNFPA and Government in all aspect of programme management and financial tasks 

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications and Experience 

Education: 

Completion of secondary school with additional course work in public administration, finance or economics, administration/finance or other related fields.

Knowledge and Experience:

• 3 years of previous relevant experience including a project/programme assistant, secretarial and administrative and clerical/interpreter skills
• Accurate typing in English and Lao
• Ability to translate Lao into English and vice versa.
• Ability to use computers/internet and related software (Word, Excel, Power-point, etc.);
• Good knowledge of Atlas / Peoplesoft or other ERP system;
• Good writing and communication skills.
• Previous experience in the UN an advantage;
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Languages:
• Fluency in both oral and written English and Lao
