The UNICEF Pacific office in Vanuatu is looking to engage a Ni-Vanuatu national for the post of Programme Assistant to support their Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme. The PA will report to the WASH Specialist in Vanuatu.

The Vanuatu WASH programme focuses on five main areas of work: (1) Strengthening data, policies, planning capacities and budget allocation for WASH; (2) Enhancing the ability of individuals to change or adopt hygiene behaviours; (3) Strengthening the capacities of communities, schools and healthcare providers to ensure operation and maintenance of water and sanitation facilities; (4) Improving standards and advocating for increased budgets to support quality infrastructure and proper maintenance, as well as monitoring; (5) Strengthening capacities of governments to plan for, adapt to, and recover from the effects of hazards and disasters, as well as longer term climate changes that are impacting on water availability and WASH services

 

How can you make a difference?

The UNICEF Pacific office in Vanuatu WASH team Programme Assistant will support the Vanuatu WASH team by providing a range of procedural, administrative, and operational support.  Under the direction of a Vanuatu WASH Specialist, the PA will support the team administratively to develop, implement, execute and monitor the WASH country programme.  The PA will ensure effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.  

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child, you will have…

  • Completed secondary education with a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience OR completed a University degree in business administration/related field with a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience
  • Experience ensuring effective and timely delivery in Vanuatu and ensuring consistency with organization rules and regulations in an administrative/clerical roll
  • Fluency in English and Bislama and an ability to work independently and produce results
  • Familiarity working in emergency response situations (recommended, but not required)
