The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

NRC is seeking experienced humanitarian professionals with expertise in legal assistance programming for potential short- and or/long-term positions within the middle eastern region.  Successful candidates will join our surge roster and may be contacted periodically as relevant opportunities become available.

For the ICLA roster, our ideal candidate is a university graduate (Law/Social Studies or similar), with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a senior level legal assistance project implementation position in a humanitarian/ recovery context.  Someone with a good knowledge of the displacement context in Iraq and the Middle East, experience with start-up and expansion programmes and experience working in a complex and volatile context.

They are a subject-matter expert with the knowledge to provide clear technical direction to teams and colleagues and ensure high quality implementation of projects. They are also able to coordinate and manage ICLA project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements.
