Introduction

Electronics Technician in the Experimental Physics Department (EP), Electronic Systems for Experiments Group (ESE), Front-end Section (FE).

As an Electronics Technician, you will join the Electronic Systems for Experiments Group (ESE) of the Experimental Physics Department (EP) which designs electronic systems and ASICs for the experiments at CERN and also supplies a series of electronics related services. The Front-End section (FE) develops integrated-circuit packages and high density printed circuits for the readout and control of experiments at CERN.

Functions

As an Electronics Technician in the EP-ESE-FE Section, you will participate in the design, testing, production and procurement of high-density thin film hybrid circuits and integrated-circuit (IC) packages to be used in future high-energy physics experiments. In particular, your work will require:

  • Participation in the design (schematic and layout), procurement and evaluation of high-density thin film hybrid circuits.
  • Specification, design, procurement and evaluation of packaging for custom ICs developed by EP-ESE.
  • Management of component procurement to equip thin film hybrid circuits and packages.
  • Development of hardware and software for test systems (e.g. Labview).
  • Testing of prototype designs and participation in large-scale production.
  • Development of contacts and liaison with industry.
