Project Manager (f/m) for a new project on the Nexus of Constitution Making and Mediation

Main tasks

  • Share responsibility as part of the project team on developing a Guiding Note on Working in the Nexus of Constitution Making and Mediation
  • Co-design and co-implement the project plan and strategy in coordination with partner and donor organisations (UN Department of Political Affairs and German Federal Foreign Office)
  • Conduct desk study on concepts and praxis in the nexus of Constitution Making and Mediation
  • Co-design and coordinate field studies (identify local experts, ensure methodological quality)
  • Co-design and prepare project activities, and ensure proper documentation
  • Maintain project website content-wise, and support reporting to donors
  • Prepare the Guiding Note, compiling comparative lessons learnt and key recommendations

Qualifications and skills

  • Academic and practical experience in the field of Constitution Making/Building
  • A minimum of three years’ work experience in project management and in conducting research projects, with particular focus on Constitution Making/Building processes, in international organisations, state agencies, etc.
  • Track record of academic and policy-relevant publications
  • MA degree or equivalent in political science, social science, law, peace & conflict studies, development studies, or related fields
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; German, Arabic and/or French skills are desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organisational and management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to interact with policy-makers
  • Curiosity, passion, flexibility and perseverance

The part-time position (20hrs./week) will be based in Berlin for a period of 14 months.
