How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Chief Human Resources the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for all strategic HR Planning to identify best practices for HR work processes in UNICEF Supply Division. Key duties include:

  1. Provide strategic HR support to the Chief HR in preparation of the HR strategic work plan, Office Management Plan, Mid Term Review and Annual Report (externals and internals)
  2. Coordination and implementation of incoming projects and process developments across the HR Centre.
  3. Focal point for liaising between UNICEF HR and UN agencies through close collaboration on common strategies and approaches for enhancement of provision of services, such as medical services.
  4. Coordinate and consult with the relevant unit and Centres on Budget preparations including, monitoring HRC budget, preparing monthly and quarterly updates on funds utilization reports. Identifying issues and make recommendations when necessary.
  5. In consultation with Chief HR and HRC Unit leads, research and prepare draft initial audit response to Audit queries and consolidate responses from the various HR units and take follow up actions to ensure HR’s achievement of stated objectives. Prepare lessons learned to identify corrective measures to be taken and establish internal controls.
  6. Responsible for HR data, planning and HR monitoring including; generating and maintaining management reports on various HR data and trends such as strategic staffing forecasts, contract expirations and extensions, expected retirements, separations, recruitments with the use of ERP systems and Pivot tables.
  7. Provide support to the Chief HR on the follow up actions resulting from the Global Staff Survey (GSS) including monitoring the implementation of a two year plan for HRC and for supporting Centres in SD. Prepare updates for senior management on the status of implementation for various activities. Manage projects within the GSS workplan on time and within the budget scope.
  8. Coordinate with Centres on management of individual contracts for consultants including creating and extending contracts and maintaining an overview and monitoring of payments and performance evaluations in line with the policy.
  9. Review Job Descriptions to align and update them regularly to reflect accurate reporting lines and competencies. This includes classification of positions and regular maintenance of SD’s overall organizational structure (org chart).
  10. Design, facilitate and monitor regular health checks for the supply community.
  11. Undertake additional HR strategic HR/ innovation projects as needed to identify best practices for Supply Division.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Requirements:

  • First University degree (Bachelor) in Human Resources Management, Business, Public Administration or related field 
  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsive experience in national and international Human Resources planning, management and training
  • Fluency in English

 

Desirables:

  • Advanced University degree (Masters) in relevant area
  • Work experience from the field
  • Working knowledge of another UN language
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems
  • Knowledge of project management software
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint
