NORCAP seeks gender experts with experience in the field of Women, Peace and Security/SCR 1325 - Expert Deployment/ NORCAP

Oslo (Norway)

We are looking for candidates with a passion for the women, peace and security agenda, in particular for increasing the participation of women at all levels of decision-making in conflict related settings. Successful candidates are strong advocates for gender equality and gender mainstreaming with the ability to translate words into action. The need for this expertise is in high demand and we are now expanding our pool of experts in order to effectively meet deployment requests from our partners.

 

Qualifications

  • University degree within a relevant field of study, (eg social sciences, human rights, gender studies, peace and conflict studies,  international development)

  • Experience with programme development, management and implementation, ideally from the UN

  • Experience with gender mainstreaming in a coordination role in a conflict or post-conflict setting

  • Experience from strategic communication and advocacy work aimed at enhancing women’s political participation, women’s role in peacebuilding and gender equality  

  • Seasoned networker with a track-record of developing effective multi-sectoral partnerships

  • Abreast with the most up-to-date developments and strong technical competency within one or more of the four pillars of Resolution 1325:

  1. Participation (increased participation of women)

  2. Protection (sexual and gender based violence)

  3. Prevention (violence against women, women’s rights)

  4. Relief and Recovery

  • Proven ability to conduct technical analysis and to integrate key findings in strategic planning and decision making processes

  • Hands-on experience with implementation of capacity building initiatives

  • Management experience at senior level from different contexts is highly desirable

  • Ability to effectively negotiate with internal and external counterparts

  • English language skills at professional level are required, French/Spanish/Arabic skills at professional level are desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly stressful situations and contexts

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities
