Information Systems Assistant (Environment Laboratories)(G6)

Organizational Setting

 

The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.

The IAEA Environment Laboratories consists of four laboratories, three of which are located in Monaco and one in Seibersdorf. The Division implements the IAEA Environment Programme and operates in a complex matrix environment with inputs from many parts of the organization, such as the Department of Technical Cooperation for the implementation of projects, and also collaborates with other Departments.


Main Purpose

 

Under the immediate Supervision of the Supervisor, Engineering Support, and under the general supervision of the Director of the IAEA Environment Laboratories, the Information Systems Assistant acts as a focal point for all IT related issues and provides support for the installation, maintenance, configuration, repair, and removal of items of hardware and software, as well as providing support for purchasing, development, upgrading of all IT systems and equipment for the IAEA Environment Laboratories in Monaco. The Information Systems Assistant acts as the primary administrator of the local server(s) and individual computers including laboratory computers.


Functions / Key Results Expected

 

  • Ensure the availability, performance and security of supported services\: databases, lab applications, approved hardware devices, mobile devices, web pages and network infrastructure equipment;
  • Manage video conference service\: by maintaining video conferences systems and providing Technical support on all video conference equipment, Train and assist staff on the use of video conferencing facilities such as Polycom, WebEx and Skype for Business;
  • Manage and update the Laboratories access control system\: by replacing and updating systems, providing technical support and maintenance of the system, and train Duty Station security guards on the use of the system;
  • Manage and update the Duty Stations telephone system and equipment by\: replacing and updating equipment, providing support to staff with telephone issues, and configure the system when required, Review the invoices and taxation reports in order to monitor the use and costs of the telephone system;
  • Provide advice and technical guidance to staff on systems applications deployed, including assistance on technical issues and related user queries. This includes providing IT training needs for divisional staff, as well as organizing structured and ad hoc training to users in consultation with MTIT as and when required, including for the operating systems, MS Office products, SQL database, graphics and some other Agency applications as needed;
  • Coordinate the technical information on purchasing requests, evaluation, installation, implementation, maintenance, development and upgrading of all IT facilities (hardware, software, cabling and supplies) in consultation with the central IT division

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills

 

 

  • Completed secondary education. Specialized training in IT, for example first level university degree in computer science, is an asset.
  • Minimum of six years of practical relevant working experience of which at least two should be in IT administration.
  • Experience in advising and training others on various aspects of computer usage.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English and French. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • English language test (level 2) to IAEA standard.

Remuneration

 

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 41507 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report. Recruitment will be on a LOCAL BASIS only. Testing may be part of the recruitment process.
