Position Background


This is a unique oppournity for an individual seeking practical experience in the designing and implementing of a new onboarding process for new hires. Working closely with the Acting Head of Human Resources, and in close cooperation with administrative officers in the field locations, the intern will be responsible for creating a framework for a robust onboarding program for all new hires.

The position will be based in The Hague, the Netherlands. However, for the right candidate a remote work arrangement may be possible. The internship can vary in hours per week but the project must be completed no later than 31 May 2018. 

The main deliveriables are the following:

  • Identify the gaps in the current onboarding process by interviewing staff and gathering research on best practices;
  • Draft a proposal for an onboarding process appropriate to each location and new hires’ level of position and contract duration;
  • Create an onboarding process that combines self-directed learning, online resources, in-person briefing, webinars and ‘how to’ web manuals all within a limited budget.

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Enrolled in a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution Co-op / Internship Program, with a focus on Human Resources;
  • Thorough knowledge of adult learning strategy;
  • Experience designing new training programs;
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft office, Skype for Business, Web-based tools and applications;
  • Creative, ambitious with an amazing worth ethic;
  • Self-starter with a “can-do” attitude and willingness to learn;
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.

 

Additional requirements:

  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Knowledge of Arabic or Dutch is an asset;
  • Proven ability to interact positively with colleagues regardless of culture, nationality or gender.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP:

  • Working hours
    As agreed with their supervisors. Interns must provide written notice in case of illness or other unavoidable circumstances that prevent them from observing these working hours.
  • Visa and travel
    Interns are responsible for obtaining any necessary visas. If required, ICMP may request the host state to assist a selected intern in obtaining visas. Costs and arrangements for travel, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
  • Insurance
    Interns are responsible for providing proof of valid medical insurance coverage prior to the start of the internship placement.
  • Conduct & Confidentiality
    Interns are required to sign and abide by the ICMP Code of Ethical Conduct. ICMP has the authority to remove any intern from a placement due to unsatisfactory performance or conduct.
