How can you make a difference? 

You will be joining a team of around 5000 staff in the West Bank Field Office working to foster the human development of some 800,000 registered Palestine refugees.••

Reporting directly to the Senior Sanitarian. He supervises all camp sanitation staff in his area (s).

The main responsibilities include:

•         Supervises sanitary services for UNRWA installations and recognized refugee camps as per UNRWA's established environmental sanitation programme;

•         Implements technical directives from the Field Sanitation Officer regarding sanitary facilities, e.g. refuse collection and disposal, insect control, etc. and reports on progress with appropriate comments and recommendations.

•         Established and develops relations with local and municipal authorities on environmental sanitation matters as may be required or directed by the Field Sanitation officer.

•         Supervises staff of the sanitation activity and provides them with guidance to ensure proper job performance.• ••

•         Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Conditions of service•

Monthly basic salary JD 559.4 plus Supplementary Allowance (SPLA) of 39% of basic salary. Other benefits include:

30 days of annual leave

To qualify for this position, you will need:

Education

Successful completion of full secondary education;

Successful completion of a course in environmental sanitation or public health of at least one year duration.

Preference will be given to Diploma and/ or BA holders in infrastructure engineering and water.

Work

experience

At least five years experience in supervisory work in camp or rural community sanitation under the supervision of a qualified person.• In case of possession of professional qualifications, following two years experience would be sufficient.

Desirable qualifications:

•         A certificate of one year's course in environmental sanitation from a recognized training institution.

•         Working knowledge of English.
