Finance Assistant

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a proactive and responsible Finance Assistant with high level of commitment and excellent organizational skills to help manage CIP’s payment execution and supervision, petty cash handling, corporate credit card control and treasury reports.

The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweet potato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations.

The position: This position will be based in Lima, Peru and will report directly to the Treasurer. Duties and Accountabilities:

• Support to the Treasury Department in preparing treasury metrics.

• Execute and supervise the payment process (suppliers, partners, consultants, taxes, etc.) • Responsible for petty cash management.

• Revise, verify and prepare the confirmation of bank movements and balances. • Organize and verify banking transactions to ensure they are being properly processed. • Help maintain documentation updated in relation to CIP's base information in public and private entities to contribute to the monitoring of assignments.

• Keep the file system updated and thus ensure the proper monitoring of information. • Control and Reconciliation of corporate credit cards.

• Processing tax detraction payments. • Monthly reporting of interest recognition of projects, • Registration of foreign exchange rates and bank charges.

• Processing foreign exchange valuation.

• Updating reports of donations received.

Selection Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting or administration.

• A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in treasury.

• Excellent skills in MS Office, especially in Excel.

• Good skills in accounting software packages (ERP Preferable).

• Strong understanding of accounting and budget principles.

• Ability to accomplish results by working proactively with team members.

• Intermediate – Advanced written and oral communication skills in English

• Ability to organize, coordinate, schedule and handle multiple work activities and demands in an effective and satisfactory manner.

• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; being able to interact with staff at different levels and work in multicultural environment, with integrity and discretion.

Conditions: This position is local and employment contract will be for one year with three-month probation period, and the possibility of renewal. CIP prides itself on its collegial and supportive working environment, which allows space for personal and professional growth.
