ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING

The primary objective of the Programme Department is to create the conditions, platforms and environment through which religious leaders and other actors, in particular policy makers, can engage in constructive dialogue, thus strengthening mutual understanding and respect with the ultimate aim to encourage them to initiate action to bring about change in the policies of religious institutions and governments, at various levels, build mechanisms to facilitate ongoing dialogue and action as well as strengthen networks of committed and experienced religious leaders, and other actors in the use of interreligious (IRD) for peace and reconciliation in conflict situations in particular.

The Dialogue Knowledge Hub (DKH) team focuses on gathering, producing and disseminating knowledge about IRD, the relevant activities and IRD organizations worldwide, providing for an interactive, web-based hub, which will include databases, informative e-tools for IRD dialogue (e.g. bibliographies, webographies, facilitated virtual platforms, etc.), as well as educational e-products on IRD (e.g. online courses, webinars, thematic fora, etc.).

ROLE

Under the supervision of the Director, Programme Department, the Senior Programme Manager (SPM) develops the DKH programmes and implements and/or oversees their implementation. The SPM manages the full cycle of the KAICIID e-learning projects. He/She supports other colleagues in the Department in gathering knowledge necessary for the programmes they manage. This is a leadership role whereby He/She is expected to collaborate with multiple teams within the organization and bring them together to make things happen – it’s all about leading, empowering, facilitating and communicating. It is also a complex and challenging role as it requires a substantive understanding from a strategic perspective of pros and cons of different types of interactive web-based hubs providing online resources globally, their potential value-added in terms of promoting IRD products and services for KAICIID, identifying best methodologies and approaches, what they could look like, how they could work, and importantly for the organisation and stakeholders, how much they would cost and how best they may be delivered or implemented.

FUNCTIONS

  • Develops a long-term strategic plan, work plans and budgets for the DKH and leads and oversees their implementation;
  • Supports the Chief, IRD Hub and other colleagues in the Department in the conceptualization of their needs in terms of information and knowledge;
  • Coordinates with the other teams and the IRD Hub in developing and implementing synergistic programmes and sub-programmes, and be comfortable navigating through ambiguity of all kinds to create clarity.
  • Ensures that the commissioned data by the other Programmes and knowledge gathering is produced in a timely fashion;
  • Provides quality assurance on all the products of the DKH;
  • Develops, implements and monitors KAICIID E-learning Programme and analyses and evaluates its related outputs by observing its usage and evaluating its impact in terms of the organizational benefits;
  • Oversees the development and the implementation of the other three DKH sub-programmes: Peace-Mapping, KAICIID Online Resources, and KAICIID Virtual Platforms making sure that  they are advancing in a timely manner within allocated resources and are in compliance with KAICIIID’s strategic plan, policies and procedures;
  • Work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation Adviser to develop appropriate performance indicators and evaluation methodologies and tools for the DKH, building sound working relationships with other actors interested in this topic in the IRD community;
  • Prepares progress reports against set targets and indicators, with an analysis of evidence of progress towards planned outputs according to schedules, budgets, and inputs;
  • Guides and coaches staff of the team, supervises work of outside service providers;
  • Contributes to knowledge management practices as well as designs new knowledge distribution policies and encourages use of the new practices through the DKH;
  • Utilizes the knowledge base resources of the DKH and designs a training module for the staff and clients to help them access the DKH management tools;
  • Undertakes any other assignments as requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced university degree in development studies, education or other related field;
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience with e-learning and innovation; expertise on issues and trends in the fields of e-learning and education;
  • Experience in working in a multicultural, innovative and web-based environment;
  • Experience in designing, populating and managing web-based platforms;
  • Experience in the coordination of the activities and the provision of strategic policy advice;
  • Experience with and knowledge of interreligious dialogue desirable;
  • Excellent skills in managing cutting-edge e-learning systems;
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of online education and learning methodologies, platforms and systems;
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities;
  • Ability to establish, build and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating understanding of their perspective and ability to anticipate their needs and address them promptly;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated drive for results that reflects ownership and accountability;
  • Receptiveness to feedback, willingness to learn and embrace continuous improvement as part of change management;
  • Commitment to sharing information, contributing to the learning and development of the Centre;

LANGUAGES

English proficiency (written and spoken), knowledge of any other major languages desirable, preferably Spanish and/or Arabic.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

KAICIID offers fixed-term contracts of one year with a possibility of extension, depending on the continuing need for the position. Annual net salary for Grade 4 Step 1 is 61944 EUR. Appointments are normally made at Step 1. If eligible, housing and education allowance may also be provided. KAICIID salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria.
