Operation Blessing International – Virginia Beach, VA

Operation Blessing International (OBI) is a humanitarian organization dedicated to relieving human suffering. OBI combats hunger, deprivation and physical affliction with the provision of food, clothing, shelter, medical care and other basic necessities of life. We also help facilitate the development of healthy, vibrant and self-sustaining communities by addressing larger issues of education, food security, potable water, employment, community health, and disaster mitigation projects.

OBI's Disaster Relief team specializes in responding to natural disasters and mobilizing teams to assist with major relief and recovery efforts in response to earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis and floods.

We are currently seeking a Construction Manager to work alongside our Deployment Manager to manage field operations that provide life-sustaining and life-changing relief during U.S.-based disasters. The Construction Manager is not just responsible for ensuring safety, excellent, and proper permitting, but also has the opportunity to work with our employees and volunteers, overseeing the execution of all construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

· Working knowledge of managing construction projects to include demolition and re-construction

· Working knowledge of fleet maintenance with skills in mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair

· Knowledgeable of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) laws and regulations

· Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office & Microsoft Excel

· Excellent logistical, decision making and problem-solving skills

· Excellent people, motivational and leadership skills

· Strong ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and effectively multi-task

· Self-starter with ability to effectively perform in a fast-paced customer service environment

· Ability to travel on short notice for extended amounts of time

· Ability to operate heavy equipment (skid steers, cranes, etc.) and lift up to 60 lbs.

· Ability to make credit card purchases for OBI, as needed

· Required to have a personal vehicle for non-disaster work responsibility

Required Licenses or Certifications:

· Licensed General Contractor

· Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record

· Forklift Certification

· CDL Class “A” (Semi-Truck Restriction acceptable.)

· Commercial Crane Operation License, preferred but can be obtained through on-the-job training
