PURPOSE OF THE POSITION\:

 

To work with the Division Director/Head of WHO Country Office (HWCO) to manage programmatic and administrative technical support through effective planning and management, results-based budgeting, monitoring and evaluation of collaborative programmes, resource mobilization and communication.
 
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES\:
  1. Coordinate programme management support, work planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation and resource mobilization.
  2. Develop good practice models and innovative approaches to programme management in implementing strategic public health policies and agenda for the division/country office.
  3. Conduct analysis and dissemination of programmatic information that is able to respond to public health gaps and needs and to document WHO’s role in these areas of work.
  4. Create monitoring and evaluation tools using critical programme performance measures necessary to maintain delivery of programme targets and preparation of reports.
  5. Develop and/or strengthen public health partnerships and networks at regional/country level to enable efficient programme implementation.
  6. Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\:

 
Education\:
 
Essential\:  Postgraduate degree in public health management, international relations, public policy or a related field from a recognized university.
 
Experience\:
 
Essential\:  Minimum of seven years relevant work experience at national and international level.
 
Skills\:
  • Strong knowledge and analytical skills in aspects of international and national health policy and development;
  • Strong understanding of effective management practices, programme planning and evaluation;
  • Strong skills in motivating and managing colleagues to engage broader aspects of work as part of a team beyond individual areas of work; and
  • Excellent ability to communicate and work harmoniously as a member of a team, adapt to diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and maintain high standard of personal conduct.

REMUNERATION\:

 

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 70,647 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children (subject to conditions).
