Fixed Asset Accounting Consultant

The Fixed Asset Accounting Consultant will manage and ensure correct accounting of fixed assets in UNFPA Field Offices and Headquarters. 

The consultant will ensure accuracy of corporate fixed asset accounting records and prepares the fixed assets related note for the UNFPA Financial Statements.The consultant will perform regular reconciliation of fixed asset records between Asset Management (AM) and General Ledger (GL) modules; Analyze results of monthly depreciation process; investigate errors and facilitate corrections; Analyze fixed asset accounting records for compliance with IPSAS; Ensure that values of fixed assets acquisitions, disposals, adjustments and depreciation expenses for the year are recorded accurately in corporate accounting records; Reconcile and clean-up fixed asset accounts; Monitor validity of chart of accounts used in fixed asset accounting entries; Process accounting for fixed assets transferred between fund codes consistent with corporate decision on funding of fixed assets; perform regular reconciliation of affected fund codes for correctness of entries; Prepare fixed asset-related notes and disclosures for corporate financial statements.

Duration:  4 months

Qualification and experience:

Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Finance / Accounting, or related discipline.  A first level university degree combined with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) is acceptable in lieu of the advanced university degree.

-       3-5 years of experience in accounting is required; prior experience in accounting for fixed assets is preferred;

-       Advance knowledge of spreadsheets is a must;

-       Excellent organization skills, attention to details, precision and accuracy are required;

-       Ability to formulate business requirements into logical system specifications;

-       Prior experience in working with ERP financials (preferably PeopleSoft / Oracle) is a distinct advantage;

           -       UN common system experience, especially field experience, is desirable.
