DRC/DDG implements activities in eastern Ukraine to assist internally displaced and conflict-affected persons. DRC/DDG offices are located in Mariupol, Slovyansk, Severodonetsk, and Kyiv. Activities include shelter repair, legal assistance and information, psycho-social counselling, and mine risk education and demining. Donors include GIZ, ECHO, OFDA, UNICEF.

About the job

Accountant on a part-time basis provides accounting and administrative support as requested by Head of Office in Slovyansk to ensure day-to-day functioning and smooth financial operations of DRC programmes in Slovyansk and Severodonetsk. The accountant works in the office in Slov'yans'k on a part-time basis, covering procedures and preparing documents for accounting operations for the regional office in Slov'yansk and Severodonetsk. Accountant coordinates  the work with Lead Accountant based in Kyiv, AFO and Head of Office in Slov'yansk. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
 
Responsibilities:
  • To provide dedicated support to Finance and Admin team and Head of office in order to ensure timely implementation of accounting and administrative activities conducted by Slovyansk and Severodonetsk programme staff.
  • To prepare and control primary documentation in the relevant areas of accounting and prepares for processing in compliance with Ukrainian legislation related to business travels, contracts with suppliers of goods and services, warehousing, asset/inventory (keeping the records up-to-date), transportation expenses and fuel reimbursement, distributions etc.
  • To work closely with Lead Accountant and Finance/Admin team to ensure that DRC accounting procedures are in compliance with DRC’s and donor’s rules and regulations
  • Participates in inventory of cash, assets, settlements and payment obligations.
  • Performs work to file, ensure maintenance and storage data of accounting information, changes the reference and normative information used in the processing of data.
  •  Carries out other request orders of immediate supervisor -  lead accountant.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have knowledge of Ukrainian legislation, experience as a Certified accountant in Ukraine for at least 3 years; proven ability to organize, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; ability to work effectively with minimal supervision. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • University degree in  Finance and Accounting.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
  • Understanding of C1 Accounting
  •  Excellent business Ukrainian language writing and speaking skills.

Desirable

  • Previuos Expereince of work in international humanitarian or development NGOs

We offer

Contract length: 6 months fixed-term contract with possibility to extend

Contract type: part-time with up to 20 hours per week

Level: C

Designation of Duty Station: Kyiv

Start date: 1 March 2018

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Ukrainian nationals and in compliance with Ukrainian Labor Code.
