How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Procurement Officer, responsibilities will include providing shared procurement support to the GSSC Service Management and Operations teams, including the Operations Manager, Service Management Lead, GSSC IT Lead, and GSSC HR Lead.  The Procurement Associate performs all procurement activities in compliance with the UNICEF Financial Rules and Regulations, Supply Division Manual and other applicable procurement procedures.

This will involve:

1. Create contracts and/or purchase orders.

  • Prepare and generate Purchase Orders, Long Term Agreements, Direct Order Arrangements and price estimates.

2. Draft and update procurement related documents.

  • Draft local and international tender invitations. Assist with preparation of Contract  Review Committee submittals.
  • Prepare informational materials and instruction manuals.
  • Update databases and management systems as required.

3. Ensure continuous availability of data related to procurement.

  • Assist in preparation of forecast exercise to ensure a sustained and uninterrupted supply. Prepare and monitor detailed allocations database listing forecasts vs. supplier availability.
  • Maintain procurement records.

4. Perform other duties as required.

  • Provide overall administrative support to Procurement Officer.

As an advocate for every child, you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education (i.e. high school diploma) is a minimum requirement.
  • University level courses in administration and operations desirable.
  • IT skills and working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products (including MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint) is required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in administration and operations, preferably with the UN or an international organization.
  • Work experience in procurement is highly desirable.
  • Previous hands-on experience in planning, organizing and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
  • Work experience with a development organization is an asset.
  • Knowledge of UN/UNICEF'S rules, regulations and procedures is considered an asset.
  • Proven experience in dealing with confidential and sensitive communication and information is desirable.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize is desirable.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the local language of the duty station is mandatory.
