The role of NRC ICLA Business Lawyer is to deliver high quality information, counselling and legal assistance services within the area of expertise - protection of income, promotion of employment and social inclusion, and ensure synergies with other NRC Core Competencies, and in particular NRC Livelihoods & Food Security programme.

Job description

Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards
Ensure compliance with ICLA strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards
ICLA specific technical responsibility for the implementation, quality control, monitoring, project documentation and tracking of financial expenditures for technical activities of ICLA projects
Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards project staff
Provide specific technical analysis and feedback to NRC representatives in coordination forums
Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Contribute to specific protection risks and needs analyses
Contribute to designing of protection response to identified risks and needs.
Facilitate individual and group legal counselling from the office(s) and during mobiles visits
Support and mobilise beneficiaries for enabling them to address their legal issues independently
Provide follow up and direct legal assistance on the issues which cannot be addressed by beneficiaries independently
Identify, analyze and document violations of the rights, propose and advocate remedies
Contribute to the monitoring and profiling exercises organized and/or participated by NRC
Cooperate with relevant NRC core competences and support units to develop integrated response to the beneficiaries needs
Compile narrative and statistical reports in the respective formats
Ensure proper filing of documents
Perform any other tasks as requested by ICLA PM/PDM.
Facilitate provision of basic information about the rights and entitlements of beneficiaries regarding right to work and social security

Qualifications

High education in law
Experience in business law (registration of business entities, taxation, labour, commercial contracts, banking, investments)
Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian, both written and verbal
Good knowledge of the context in East Ukraine
Good Knowledge of the software programs (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position's responsibilities
Knowledge of English, both written and verbal
Experience from working on the similar positions in a humanitarian/recovery context

Education level

  • College / University, Bachelor's degree
