NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a motivated professional individual to join our Syria Response Office’s operations. The ideal candidate must have 3-5 years of experience in Education in complex and volatile contexts in a humanitarian/ recovery context.

We are particularly looking for an individual who is able to provide overall and technical support to NRC and partner staff in day-to-day implementation of the Education and youth related response and projects.

 

Generic responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards
  • Ensure compliance with Education strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards
  • Education technical responsibility for implementation of technical activities of Education project(s)
  • Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards project staff
  • Provide specific technical analysis and feedback to NRC representatives in coordination forums
  • Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  • Monitor and document the implementation of project activities done by implementing partners and/or contractors (plan of action activities, contracts, financial expenditures and project documentation)
  • Conduct quality control and provide technical support to implementing partners and/or contactors

Specific responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the start-up of education-related programming and interventions
  • Provide technical assistance and participate in capacity building of partner organization(s) to ensure continued progress of response or designated specific interventions / projects.
  • Follow-up with partner organization(s) for designated project(s) ensuring that proper M&E and documentation systems are in place.
  • Support planning and provide technical support with regards to the procurement and delivery of materials and services that relate education and youth interventions.
  • Support program in identifying new partners with particular capacity to implement education and youth interventions
  • Participate in education and youth planning, managing, leadership, and practical direction to various projects and interventions.
