How can you make a difference? 

The incumbent will be the focal point for the development of UNICEF's Face to Face (F2F) pledge (regular giving) donor recruitment programs in the 9 Country Offices (COs) in Latin America (LAC) and two National Committees (NCs) in North America, and thereby drive the growth of pledge income.

The purpose of the role is to provide technical fundraising expertise and guidance on managing F2F donor recruitment activities and techniques to maximize their income through more efficient processes to CO and NC fundraising teams. The Specialist must contribute expertise and add value to the many F2F campaigns in donor acquisition through street, door to door, event and workplace-based recruitment of regular givers. Lastly, s/he will provide advice for maximizing donor quality, fulfilment, retention, and ask strategy value maximization.

The F2F Fundraising Specialist will work closely with the Global Fundraising Specialist for F2F in Geneva, the Regional Individual Giving Specialist in Panama and UNICEF fundraising teams across the region to develop their fundraising activity in this area. The role of the incumbent will primarily be to fill resource gaps where necessary, and to gather and share best in class learnings in relation to the F2F channel.

MAIN TASKS

Under the guidance of the Global F2F Fundraising Specialist in Geneva F2F and the regional Individual Specialist in Bangkok, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Work closely with the national and regional fundraising teams across the region to develop, support and advise on their F2F activities and ensure the realization of results.
  • Regular market visits across the region as agreed with Global F2F Specialist. These may vary in length between 1 week and 2 months and will include markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, USA, Canada, Argentina, Chile, etc.
  • Work to fill any resource gaps within individual countries, either by providing direct support or by assisting in the recruitment and procurement of additional support where appropriate.
  • Provide F2F training to both agencies and UNICEF fundraising teams on best-in-class implementation strategies.
  • The collection and the regular monitoring of the benchmarks in the Region in order to compare results, identify best-in-class performances and identify trends.
  • Work closely with both the Global F2F Specialist in Geneva and the Regional Individual Giving Specialist in Panama for alignment on global strategy, guidance on global best practice, and on the Individual Giving audience approach in the region.
  • Provide remote F2F support to markets in the region: providing support calls on F2F activities, answering ad-hoc queries, sharing best in class examples of F2F implementation.
  • Organize and coordinate F2F webinars with key speakers from across the organization.
  • Coordinate the Regional F2F training workshop with the host and participating offices.
  • The coordination of regular regional competitions and field visits (where possible) to drive maximum performance, motivation and recognition of high performing fundraisers.

DELIVERABLES

  • F2F webinars carried out on subjects to be agreed with the Global F2F specialist in Geneva.
  • Regional F2F Training Workshop coordinated with Global F2F Fundraising specialist in Geneva, the Regional Individual Giving Specialist, fundraising offices and the Workshop host country. Full evaluation of same to be carried out.
  • An ongoing database representing best practice from across the region in: F2F fundraising content and materials; agency management and procurement; training and capacity building; innovation and engagement; general best practice case studies.

REPORTING TO

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Regional Individual Giving Specialist in Panama and in alignment with the Global Fundraising Specialist (F2F) in Geneva.

WORK PLACE

The incumbent will be based at UNICEF's Regional Support Centre in Panama with frequent travel across the region as outlined above. Travel costs will be covered by UNICEF as per travel guidance and some remote working will be possible in line with UNICEF's flexible working policy.

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in relevant field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years' hands-on experience of F2F fundraising, including: Managing teams; Budgeting; Recruitment and selection of F2F fundraisers; Planning and delivery of F2F training; Planning and management of programs; 
  • Preparing materials & scripts; Analyzing and reporting on F2F results including long term attrition; Quality control and risk management.
  • Knowledge of face-to-face trends across multiple markets. 
  • Experience of negotiating contracts and enforcing contractual terms with F2F agencies, preferably across diverse markets.
  • Experience of both agency and in-house F2F campaigns would be an advantage.
  • It would also be an advantage if the person has experience of other pledge fundraising.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of Portuguese a strong advantage.
