Organizational Context


The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. The mandate of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in developing countries and economies in transition.

The Programme Development and Technical Cooperation (PTC) of UNIDO is responsible for providing technical cooperation services on technological and economic issues and is organized in the following departments: Department of Partnerships and Results Monitoring, Department of Agri-Business Development, Department of Trade, Investment and Innovation, Department of Energy and Department of Environment. Furthermore, PTC has a close cooperation with other field based Centers and Offices, such as the Investment and Technology Promotion Offices, forming the extended field network of UNIDO.

The position will be located in the Country Partnerships Division(Division (PTC/PRM/CPD)


The Department of Partnerships and Results Monitoring (PTC/PRM) acts as the Strategic Office of the Managing Director, Programme Development and Technical Cooperation. It coordinates UNIDOs partnerships with business entities, international financial institutions, development finance institutions and multilateral funds, in particular within the framework of the Programme for Country Partnership (PCP).


PROJECT CONTEXT (160209)
The Project Administrator will be working under the Facilitation of UNIDO partnership mobilization project (SAP ID 160209).
With this context, the Project Administrator will help articulate UNIDOs corporate strategy for partnerships, specifically within the context of the PCPs.
The incumbent will support the overall PCP coordination function, including the roll-out to new PCP countries, by facilitating the reporting of progress, the preparation of related reports and advocacy materials, as well as contribute to the organization of global events aimed at promoting partnerships.

Duty Station: UNIDO Headquarters, Vienna, Austria.

Main Functions


Under the supervision of the Project Manager, and working with the project team, administers elements of technical cooperation programme or specific project/s of limited complexity and implementation of technical cooperation programmes and activities, the Project Administrator will perform the following main duties:

- Selecting, organizing and summarizing background information to describe the overall context and background relevant to a project or a sector of technical cooperation activities in a country, assessing the local context for the planning and administration of individual technical cooperation projects;

- Analyzing and interpreting project background history and documentation, identifying, reconstructing and documenting significant project events, decisions and deviations;

- Drafting sections of project documents such as project background and justification;

- Informing experts, consultants and other project participants about logistical arrangements and internal procedures for monitoring and reporting in terms of the immediate objectives of specific projects;

- Monitoring specific aspects of project implementation and identifying problems and proposing that actions be taken to expedite delivery of inputs;

- Drafting comments on designated aspects of project progress as an input to programme monitoring;

- Drafting project revisions, including adjusting individual project budgets, on the basis of changed work plans.

Minimum Requirements



Education

Advanced university degree in engineering, sciences or other relevant discipline with specialization in economics, business administration, managerial economics, social science, international relations, or relevant field.


Languages

English (Fluent), Fluency and/or working knowledge of another official UN language, particularly French is required.


Field of Expertise

At least three years of professional experience in the field of international development.
Exposure to the needs, conditions and problems in developing countries.
Ability to research and analyze information.
Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural teams
