OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Noncommunicable Diseases and Health through the Life Course (DNH)\:
To support Member States in promoting health as well as preventing morbidity, premature death and disability by addressing behavioral, environmental, social, cultural and health systems-related determinants of health. The programme will guide development of responses and interventions at the population level cognizant of specific health and developmental needs at different stages throughout the life course. Programme components include surveillance, strategic and innovative communication, advocacy for policy, development and enforcement of legislation and regulations, engagement with multisectoral stakeholders, special interventions for marginalized and displaced populations due to extreme climactic conditions, support for whole-of-government approaches and empowerment of communities and families to create health as a resource for living in the settings where people live, work, learn and play.
Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MCA)\:
To assist Member States in developing whole-of-society approaches to address health and human development needs throughout different stages of the life course, in particular in improving health of newborns, children, adolescents and adults of reproductive age by ensuring universal access to quality, evidence-based promotive, preventive and life-saving interventions at all levels of the health care delivery system and ensuring appropriate linkages to community resources.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and guidance provided by the Director for NCD and Health through the Life-Course, the incumbent is assigned to the following responsibilities\:
(1) Review existing indicators, surveillance and reporting systems and propose tools for enhancing surveillance, recording and reporting;
(2) Support national and international stakeholders to strengthen information systems for RMNCAH, including conducting data quality assessments and evaluations;
(3) Support the development and implementation of regional monitoring and evaluation frameworks for reproductive and child health;
(4) Support capacity-building in surveillance, monitoring, evaluation and implementation research;
(5) Support countries to analyse and use data for strategic planning in RMNCAH at the national and subnational levels;
(6) Support the coordination efforts in mobilizing resources and sourcing funds, and provides related administrative assistance, such as preparing proposals, reports and materials;
(7) Support in the development and execution of advocacy and communication activities, and efficiently delivers the organizational and logistical requisites for these, such as coordinating with stakeholders and organizing events;
(8) Carry out research and support for improved information and accountability; and
(9) Perform other tasks related to RMNCAH as requested by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential\: University degree in health science, public health, epidemiology or related field from a recognized university.Desirable\: Specialized training in data management, statistical analysis and health surveillance.
Experience
Essential\: Minimum five years' of national and international work experience in public health, including three years in data management, statistical analysis, surveillance and monitoring and evaluation.Desirable\: Three years' relevant work experience in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child or adolescent health. Familiarity with health systems and sociocultural contexts in the Asia-Pacific region. Research experience demonstrated by peer review publications.
Skills
(1) Data management and statistical skills including proficiency in MS Excel and statistical programmes and packages (STATA, SAS or others).
(2) Familiarity with the health information platform DHIS-2 and data visualization tools.
(3) Excellent organizational and analytical skills combined with ability to multitask and produce accurate results under pressure.
(4) Ability to synthesize information in a clear and concise manner.
(5) Excellent interpersonal skills, including respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 58,583 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1831 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
