Consultancy: Campaign & Advocacy Consultant, 'Children Under Attack' Campaign, 6 Months, Division of Communication, NYHQ

Working with the Cause Framework Team Lead and UNICEF creative teams (DOC, PFP and where appropriate Country and Regional teams and National Committees), and where agreed external creative partners, Cause Framework the consultant shall: • Based on the internal UNICEF Children Under Attack Campaign Concept Paper, develop a Campaign Project Plan which sets out a theory of change for the 3-year campaign; an outline of campaign momentum for 3 years with more detail including milestones/events/actions for the first 12 months; key elements to guide effective campaign activations including stakeholder and audience analysis, supporter engagement; as well as other creative campaign tactics. • Develop a creative deck which presents a concept for campaign look and style, content product plan and proposals for key campaign creative activations. • Develop stylized, formatted and recognizable digital content templates that frame the ‘Children Under Attack’ campaign, suitable for use on all UNICEF social media channels including for video, photo, graphic and blog content. • Oversee and manage production of the core suite of products to establish the first year of the campaign, including 4 short videos; photographic and graphic campaign signature products. • In close coordination with the Team Lead (and through him the relevant offices and sections of UNICEF) explore and propose external creative and media partnerships which could result in taking the campaign to specific target audiences and wide global reach

Tens of millions of children are trapped in armed conflicts around the world, coming under attack at a shocking scale. The world must not become numb to this suffering of children – we must not allow this brutality to become the new normal in conflict situations

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF aims to issue a global wake-up call that this blatant violence against children in today’s wars must not be allowed to be accepted as the new normal. UNICEF will instigate a 3-year public campaign under the banner of Children Under Attack which will create a globally recognized call to action focused on:

  • better protecting children in conflict zones.
  • reaching more children caught in conflict zones with life-saving assistance.
  • raising more funds to be able to deliver life-saving assistance at scale.

Working with the Cause Framework Team Lead and UNICEF creative teams and where agreed external creative partners, the consultant shall:

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Eight years of professional work experience in communications, including demonstrable experience in overseeing campaigning work with the UN or an international NGO/organization.
  • Experience in producing / managing the production of multimedia content, from contracting to concept development and editing.
  • Experience of working in complex and sensitive environments, including conflict affected countries would be an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English
  • French or Arabic language skills are an asset
