UNICEF Timor-Leste Country Office is looking for a consultant for a long term agreement in editing and proofreading the English version of various programme documents, reports, publications, articles. Preference is giving to those who based in Dili.

Purpose of the Assignment

In partnership with government and other stakeholders, UNICEF is implementing various programme both at the national and municipality level to promote child rights and wellbeing for children and their families.  As part of the programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation, UNICEF produce various documents on programme implementation including reports, proposals, human interest stories and various publications. 

The consultant is expected to work under the guidance of Communication Specialist in collaboration with head of programme sections he/she will be responsible for editing, proofreading for the English version of various programme documents, reports, publications, human interest stories-articles, UNICEF publications, etc.

Work assignment

  •  Get briefing from UNICEF on the assignment (including background information of the project, work schedule, expected outputs, including the quality and format of the final products)
  •  Undertake overall copyediting and proofreading of the English –language document ensure accuracy of spelling and grammar
  • Ensure consistency of writing style throughout the document
  • Ensure consistency and logical flow of ideas and arguments throughout the document
  • Identify and flag areas lacking clarity for correction and improvement
  • Identify potential redundancies that can be removed
  • Suggest ways text can be presented in a format more appealing or usable to the readers.

Deliverables: Based on the specific task/assignment and agreed timeline.

 

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills Required:

  • University graduate
  • Experience in editing, copyediting English language version documents
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Good judgment, initiative, high sense of responsibility and analytical skills
  • Computer skills, including social media navigation and various office applications
  • Knowledge of UNICEF reporting processes and procedures is an advantage
  • Excellent coordination skills, and an ability to follow instructions, work under pressure as a part of a team, or independently is required.
