Being an employee of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ethiopia the Education Project Officer is expected to represent NRC in a responsible manner and always act in accordance with NRC’s Code of Conduct.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Generic responsibilities:

• Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines;
• Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action;
• Prepare and develop status reports as required by management;
• Ensure proper filing of documents;
• Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function.

Job description

Specific responsibilities:

The Officer should work closely with the Project Coordinator on all aspects of the project implementation:

• Identifying training needs of teachers/instructors and prepare plan of action;
• Supervision and Training of school management committees in particular Parent-Teachers-Association;
• Coordination of activities within and between schools;
• Collecting and compiling monthly reports from teachers, instructors and school Administrators;
• Identify schools who host many refugees and include in NRC’s programmes for support;
• Assist in compiling the monthly report to be submitted to the PC;
• Liaison with relevant authorities and communities as appropriate;
• Maintain and keep database related to the education activities and update regularly;
• organizing and conducting training and monthly workshops and necessary in-service training for teachers, instructors and Centre leaders;
• Supervision and monitoring of teachers, instructors and Centre leaders regularly with specific focus on the skills training instructors;
• Conduct follow up to TVET institution where NRC send trainees;
• Engage in targeting of schools, students and other stakeholders based on pre-defined parameters;
• Sensitization of communities, youth and their parents;
• Conduct material distribution and maintain proper recording for NFI distribution to targeted students and public schools;
• Participate in tracer study of the TVET graduates;
• Coordinate with the Livelihoods team of the Addis Ababa programme and ensure TVET graduates receive livelihoods support so that they engage in meaningful livelihoods;
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Competences:

• A University Degree in Education, Education Management, Sociology, Psychology or related fields
• At least three years of experience in similar role
• Experience working in Multi sectoral and integrated programmes
• Good understanding of community development and gender, education issues and/or training skills
• Familiarity of background from Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET) programs
• Excellent computer knowledge with command on MS Excel among other packages of MS Office.
• Experience on working with Data analysis software/programmes
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, facilitation skills and writing skills
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• knowledge of English language both written and spoken
