This is a 11.5 months individual consultancy assignment to provide technical assistance in fostering visibility and raising awareness about activities, impact and outcomes of the USAID-UNICEF partnership for restoration of education during the aftermath of the earthquake in Nepal under Education Section of UNICEF Nepal.

For every child, Consultant

will provide technical assistance in fostering visibility and raising awareness about activities, impact and outcomes of the USAID-UNICEF partnership for restoration of education during the aftermath of the earthquake in Nepal.

How can you make a difference?

  • Develop guidelines for communications, joint visits and good practices related to the project, keeping in mind the needs and best interest of children in school and their communities where project activities are taking place
  • Provide technical assistance to increase visibility of USAID-UNICEF partnership for restoration of education during the aftermath of the earthquake
  • Develop and maintain a Communication and Visibility Plan.
  • Produce advocacy and communication materials including press release, speech, social media posts, human interest stories, blog, photos, videos, photo essays, banners, stickers etc. regarding the partnership in English and Nepali languages as per USAID and UNICEF guidelines and standard.
  • Adhere to USAID and UNICEF’s communications guidelines for branding and marking.
  • Monitoring on-site visibility.
  • Organize high level visits for donors and media to districts benefitting from the partnership
  • Provide technical support to the Education Section in identifying communication priorities, and preparing and finalizing donor reports for USAID in coordination with Communication Section

Deliverables: 

1st Deliverable by 01 April 2018

  • Submission of development of guidelines for communications, joint visits and good practices related to the project, keeping in mind the needs and best interest of children in school and their communities where project activities are taking place
  • Submission of development of communication and visibility plan in consultation with UNICEF and USAID focal points.
  • Support in development of communication materials for the partners to utilize in the school and community, and visibility plan for the project.

2nd Deliverable by 01 May 2018

  • Submission of three human interest stories based on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly social media posts for Twitter and Facebook on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly image post for Instagram on project activities.
  • Support in development of communication materials for the partners to utilize in the school and community, and visibility plan for the project.
  • Completion of other activities including donor visits as per the communication and visibility plan
  • Submission of monthly update of the communication and visibility plan.

3rd Deliverable by 01 June 2018

  • Submission of one human interest story based on project activities.
  • Submission of a time-lapse or hyper-lapse video on TLC construction from start to finish.
  • Submission of weekly social media posts for Twitter and Facebook on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly image post for Instagram on project activities.
  • Submission of monthly report all the activities, analysis of reach of the post and strategies to improve reach on social media.
  • Completion of other activities including donor visits as per the communication and visibility plan
  • Submission of monthly update of the communication and visibility plan.

4th Deliverable by 01 July 2018

  • Submission of three human interest stories on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly social media posts for Twitter and Facebook on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly image post for Instagram on project activities.
  • Submission of monthly report of all the activities, analysis of reach of the post and strategies to improve reach on social media.
  • Completion of other activities including donor visits as per the communication and visibility plan
  • Submission of monthly update of the communication and visibility plan.

5th Deliverable by 01 August 2018

  • Submission of one human interest story based on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly social media posts for Twitter and Facebook on project activities.

  • Submission of two-minute video on the project update during monsoon, hard-to-reach construction sites
  • Submission of monthly report on all the activities, analysis of reach of the post and strategies to improve reach on social media.
  • Completion of other activities including donor visits as per the communication and visibility plan
  • Submission of monthly update of the communication and visibility plan.

6th Deliverable by 01 September 2018

  • Submission of one human interest story based project activities.
  • Submission of weekly social media posts for Twitter and Facebook on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly image post for Instagram on project activities.
  • Submission of finalized donor report .
  • Submission of monthly report on all the activities, analysis of reach of the post and strategies to improve reach on social media.
  • Completion of other activities including donor visits as per the communication and visibility plan
  • Submission of monthly update of the communication and visibility plan.

7th Deliverable by 01 October 2018

  • Submission of three human interest stories on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly social media posts for Twitter and Facebook on project activities.
  • Submission of weekly image post for Instagram on project activities.
  • Submission of monthly report of all the activities, analysis of reach of the post and strategies to improve reach on social media.

8th Deliverable by 01 November 2018

  • Submission of development of lesson learnt documentation of the education in recovery.

12th Deliverable by 15 February 2019

  • Finalization on documentation of the education in recovery.
  • Submission of final video on one year of TLC project.

To qualify for this consultancy, for every child you will have…

  • University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field(s).

    •  Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media or interactive digital media, including photography, videography, video editing, etc.

    •  Ability to clearly and concisely express ideas and concepts in written and oral form in English and Nepali; specific skills in writing articles/stories for traditional and electronic media.

    •  Knowledge of computer systems, internet and various office applications

    Languages

    The post holder will have good working knowledge in the following languages:

    • English
    • Nepali
