The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a motivated professional individual to join our Syria Response Office’s operations. The ideal candidate will have an university graduate with previous experience in food security and livelihoods projects for an international organization in an emergency or recovery setting.

We are particularly looking for an individual with strong skills in food security and livelihoods projects to ensure high quality and cost effective implementation. He/she is to ensure technical quality during the day to day implementation of the NRC’s Food Security and Livelihoods programmes

Experience in the Middle East is highly desirable, specifically knowledge of the Syria context.

Generic responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards
  • Ensure compliance with FSL strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards
  • FSL specific technical responsibility for implementation of technical activities of FSL project(s)
  • FSL specific technical responsibility for tracking of financial expenditures for technical activities of FSL project(s)
  • FSL specific technical responsibility for the quality control and monitoring of project activities
  • Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards project staff
  • Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Monitor and document the implementation of project activities done by implementing partners and/or contractors (plan of action activities, contracts, financial expenditures and project documentation)
  • Conduct quality control and provide technical support to implementing partners and/or contactors

Specific responsibilities

  • Support the FSL project Manager and FSL coordinator throughout all phases of the project cycle.
  • Assist partners in carrying out beneficiary selection and communications.
  • Elicit regular follow-up on project implementation.
  • Collaborate with other CCs to promote integrated and comprehensive response packages.
