Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified individual to fill-in the vacancy of Legal Field Assistant to work in Rural Damascus

About the job

The Legal Field Assistant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day implementation of the legal activities in the field and community centers through supporting legal counselors, providing quality information about legal counseling, interventions, and awareness sessions.

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Gathering information on the implemented legal activities by legal counselors in order to maintain a clear, comprehensive and up-to-date follow-up and support.
  • Providing inputs on legal activities as well as gaps, challenges, opportunities and suggestions.
  • Liaising with other DRC colleagues at community centers to keep cross cutting communication and interventions.
  • Supporting the legal activities at community centers through communicating with beneficiaries to schedule counseling interviews and awareness sessions, in close liaison with legal counselors.
  • Data entry and updating beneficiaries’ data and achieved legal activities into DRC data management System.
  • Contributing to settling legal interventions advances and verifying outstanding balances with legal counselors.
  • Organize legal aid documents properly and in a timely manner and in accordance with the DRC filing structure and principles of confidentiality and protection.
  • Maintaining up-to-date excel database and trackers to follow up the monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with Legal counselors.
  • Use agreed templates and tools to document legal activities in the field.
  • Daily follow-up with lawyers to ensure the best implementation of legal services.
  • Daily coordination with community center director.
  • Apply protection principles and DRC guidance to daily activities.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Relations or Social Sciences.
  • One year work experience in a similar field
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic
  •  Reporting Skills, Research Skills, Legal Administration Skills, Organization, Planning, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in use of computers and Microsoft Office software.

Desirable

  • Experience in legal and/or protection work in a humanitarian context.
  •  Knowledge and experience in the surrounding community.
