DAI seeks qualified Development Seed Systems Advisor candidates for the anticipated Seed Systems Support Activity (S3A) funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The global Seed Systems Support Activity focuses on inclusive and sustainable agriculture-led economic growth, and strengthened resilience among people and systems through the identification and deployment of improvements to seed systems, with a focus on the faster and more reliable delivery of improved and quality seed, largely through informal seed systems.

The Development Seed Systems Advisor will be part of the management team and is expected to complement the Project Director (Chief of Party) in knowledge and experience of formal seed systems, responsible for assessment of local capacity and local seed networks; seed system support services focused on seed availability, seed access and seed quality; seed production logistics support; research material and early generation seed transfers; and related capacity building activities. He/he should be a senior manager with the following level of experience and qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree (MS, MA or Ph.D.) in agricultural economics or agri-business or a related field

  • At least 10 years of experience in agri-business management or value chain development preferably seed business

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in gender inclusive programs in seed system value chains

  • Professional experience interacting with U.S. Government agencies in relation to the duties of this position.
