UNICEF Cambodia is looking for international interns to join our Child Survival& Development Section for 4 months period in 2018. UNICEF is the United Nations Children’s Fund, which has more than 10,000 staff members working in 190 countries and territories around the world. UNICEF began providing assistance to Cambodia in 1952 and has been working since then to improve the wellbeing of Cambodian children. We are now looking for interns to contribute to our team for a period between 4 months in 2018. We offer supervision, access to information, engaging working environment and the possibility to work FOR EVERY CHILD.

How can you make a difference?

According to the Integrated Early Childhood Development strategy, the nutrition and the WASH sectors aim to increase child survival and improve maternal and child health. A holistic strategy ensures nowadays an integration and coordination between the two sectors aiming to a better efficiency of the implemented programmes. In the past years UNICEF carried out longitudinal studies in three provinces of Cambodia: Phnom Penh, Kratie and Ratanakiri. The households have been randomly selected and visited by experienced and trained teams. Through questionnaires, the teams collected information on anthropometric measurements for children and mother, health and knowledge, nutrition intake, water, sanitation and hygiene measures, socio-economic status, cognitive development and preschool.

During this internship, he/she will:

  1. Perform secondary statistical analysis on data collected on nutrition and WASH sectors  
  2. Assess a comparison with the baseline of 2014
  3. Evaluate the obtained results in the context of the policies arisen in the past years in the county
  4. Redact a scientific article  

To qualify as an intern for every child you will have…

  • Master student in public health, nutrition, agriculture, food or other relevant field
  • Solid academic performance record
  • Previous experience with development projects for women and children;
  • An understanding of international and/or development issues;
  • Familiarity with child right principles and the Convention of the Rights of the Child;
  • In addition to good English, excellent communication skills and solid analytical skills- strong commitment and passion for UNICEF’s mission.

Duration of the assignment

  • Desired period 4 months, Mon - Fri (full time- 5 days per week). Please clearly indicate your availability in your application.

Conditions of the Internship:

Interns with UNICEF may be remunerated with a living allowance, depending on circumstances. However, costs associated with the internship are usually borne by a nominating/related institution/government, or by the intern, who is expected to cover his/her own accommodation and livings costs as well as travel to and from Cambodia, including necessary visas, etc.
