The HR Officer position in the Sierra Leone Country Office under the HR Unit contributes to enhance operational, human and administrative capacity to support programmes for timely delivery of Sierra Leone programme results.

The Human Resources Unit is part of the Operations Section in UNICEF Sierra Leone.  With a workforce of 139 staff members excluding Consultants, the HR Unit is a Business Partner to programme colleagues and provides people-management support as well as business support functions across the Country Office and Field Offices in Makeni and Kenema.  The Unit comprise of four (4) staff members which is inclusive of the post that is being advertised.  Each member is specialized in various components of HR; however, the HR Manager and HR Officer have a generalist role and cover all the functions.

How can you make a difference?

The HR Officer position in the Sierra Leone Country Office under the HR Unit contributes to enhance operational, human and administrative capacity to support programmes for timely delivery of Sierra Leone programme results.

How will you make a difference…

As a HR Champion for every child, you will provide support to the Country Office on the following:

•             Selection and placement of staff;

•             On boarding;

•             Interpretation, determination and administration of staff entitlement (local and international);

•             Identification of Learning & Development needs in the country office;

•             Monitor potential staff/management issues

•             Classification of local positions;

•             Contribution to workforce planning and budgeting.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

•             Recognized university degree in social sciences or other relevant disciplines (human resources, business administration,

               international relations, psychology, etc.).  Additional professional training an advantage;

•             Minimum two years of relevant professional field work experience;

•             Fluency in English and knowledge of a local language desirable.
