Job Title:

Executive Director

The main mission of the Sumba Hospitality Foundation is to drive a sustainable tourism development plan for the Indonesian island of Sumba. The core values of SHF are to nurture environmental awareness and cultural identity, and to empower local communities to enable responsible tourism. As part of its mission, the Foundation manages a full boarding hospitality and permaculture school for underprivileged youth, with a green eco-resort, providing vocational education, focusing on practical and soft skills.

The foundation is seeking a management professional with a passion for philanthropy to fill the position of Executive Director.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of department heads and local staff to oversee the general operations of the campus including engineering, grounds & permaculture farm, hospitality school, hotel, restaurant and spa
  • Responsible for general administration and finance – human resources, cost control and compliance to budget
  • Represent and promote the Sumba Hospitality Foundation brand to all concerned stakeholders
  • Weekly reporting to founders and board through predetermined channels

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in hospitality or related industry with a proven ability and record of Management and Leadership (Planning, Coordination, Organizing, Directing, and Overseeing)
  • Ability to motivate a team and build/maintain a value-driven organizational culture with a demonstrated ability to manage interests of different stakeholders
  • Energy, enthusiasm and adaptability
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and active participation in school life
  • Affinity with SHF’s core values of sustainability, community empowerment, and education

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia
  • Experience working in a developing country 

Terms & Conditions of Service:

  • Contracts are for 18 months with an initial probationary period of 3 months
  • Net monthly salary of $1,500.00 USD
  • Full Medical Insurance
  • Sponsorship for a KITAS visa, valid for one year and extendable
  • Travel allowance of $2,000
  • Room and Board (3 Meals per Day), Weekly Laundry and Housekeeping Service ($450 per month Value)
  • 30 paid working days annually, plus Indonesian public holidays. Up to 15 days paid sick leave per annum
