PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Consultant will support the implementation of time-bound activities aimed at strengthening capacities at points of entry for better preparedness in Guinea-Bissau within the framework of the International Health Regulations (IHR) and the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) network in the country and lead in revising the existing legislative framework, laws and policies to also conform to the Global Health Security Agenda. The aim is to strengthen early warning and reporting capacities, improve responses, and mitigate infectious diseases effectively.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Work to be performed
Output 1\: A training workshop report for points of entry staff of Buruntuma, Pirada, Cacine and Sanconha.
Activity\: Conduct and lead a 5 days training on IHR for approximately 30 points of entry staff of the identified areas of concern.
Output 2\: A training workshop report on IDSR and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for health professionals.
Activity\: Conduct and lead a 5 days training on IDSR with health staff so as to improve the capacities of the health system at national and health centres levels as well as improve the Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential\:- Advanced university degree (Master or above) in medicine, biological science, public health or related field.
- Studies/ trainings in one or more of the following field\: surveillance, public health emergency preparedness, environmental health.
Desirable\:
Experience
Essential\:At least seven years´ experience of combined national and international professional experience in developing policies, guidance, training tools and/or field activities on capacity building at points of entry under the IHR framework.
Desirable\:
Use of language skills
Essential\: Fluency in Portuguese
Desirable\:
Fluency in English
Skills
Specific skills required\:Excellent oral, writing and organizational skills.
