BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Over the past years WFP has responded to an unprecedented level of emergencies, while maintaining ongoing operations. This increased demand stretches the organization which means WFP has to find new approaches and new ways of working to ensure we are channelling every available resource to the people we serve.
In the context of a changing world and a changing WFP, the Innovation and Change Management Division was set up in 2015 to manage change and promote innovation within the organization. The team is working directly with WFP’s leadership to drive strategic corporate priority projects.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Overall Innovation and Change Management priorities

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Depending on time of joining, the candidate’s specific experience and current corporate priorities, the Consultant will be responsible for the fully delivery of a project work stream. Examples of specific deliverables are:
- Review and assessment of WFP operations in Regional Bureaux to identify and implement opportunities to improve the delivery of services to country offices
- Work on the Cost Excellence initiative that was launched to help ensure WFP operations at every level are strong and cost effective. This includes working with divisions across WFP to improve selected processes through identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs to redirect resources and efforts to those who need it the most
- Risk management and Internal control: setting up new and strengthening existing policies, processes and frameworks for enterprise risk management and internal control. The consultant will work to embed risk management across all regional and country offices, including advising on: risk appetite and risk thresholds, key risk management initiatives, management training and induction programs about risk and internal control policies and practice.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: |
The candidate must have a Master degree; a degree in business, economics or international development preferred |
Experience: |
At least 2 years of progressively responsible national and/or international experience in a business or international relations related position. 1-2 years of experience in change management, management consulting or risk management/ internal controls required. |
Knowledge & Skills: |
|
Languages: |
In addition to a high proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of a second UN language is a plus. |
