The UNICEF Internship Programme offers qualified and eligible students at both Headquarters (HQ) and Country Offices (CO) the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

To be considered for an internship with UNICEF, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme; and
  • Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin or Arabic. Additional language requirements may apply; and
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records
  1. Purpose of the internship:

As part of the implementation of its 2015 - 2019 country program, UNICEF recognizes the importance of communication and media activities that effectively promote the rights of the child. The program will implement communication, advocacy and media activities that will help Madagascar put the rights and well-being of the most vulnerable children at the heart of the social, political and economic agenda, through sustained relationships with women and children. media, advocacy and communication campaigns and the development / strengthening of partnerships to raise awareness of the issues of childhood in Madagascar.

To do this, UNICEF will strengthen its brand image among target groups including the media, donors, the government, through the regular production of several quality communication media including photos and videos that accompany the communication and advocacy activities. These communication tools (photos, videos, documents, ...) will serve not only as a reference to show the various UNICEF interventions in the country but also advocacy tools to help target groups in their decision-making. In order to make communication materials such as photos and videos available to the general public, UNICEF Madagascar has set up the Weshare online platform in which these media will be stored. However, posting requires the insertion of the technical specifications of the media in order to facilitate the search.

The intern will have to support the management of the communication media of UNICEF by ensuring the quality of the communication supports produced while respecting the values ​​conveyed by the organization. The intern have to ensure the availability of the necessary information concerning the communication media to be put online in the weshare platform.

  • Ensure the selection of photos that are stored in the UNICEF media bank
  • Ensure that each file (photo) has the necessary information (ITPC and EXIF) for uploading
  • Classify photos into UNICEF-themed documents and as directed by the supervisor
  • Support section in uploading photos, videos, selected documents
  • Support the section during the organization of events
  • Any other tasks requested by the supervisor
  • Carry out a planning and a weekly report according to the evolution of his activities
  • Use his own material (laptop, accessories, ...). Adobe photoshop and lightroom software is required for this internship

The intern will be supervised directly by the media production officer who will supervise him for the duration of his internship.

Duration: 3 months from February 2018

  1. Qualifications: 
  • A first-level university degree  in journalism, communication, public relations, marketing, multimedia or equivalent
  • Have a sense of initiative and be flexible
  • Have good writing skills
  • Have good data collection and research capacity
  • Have a mastery of software in office (Word, excel, ...)
  • Have a perfect mastery of photo editing software like Adobe photoshop and lightroom.
