PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
WHO Guinea Bissau is seeking offers for technical assistance in conducting knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) surveys and other social science methods to assess beliefs, needs and perceptions of stakeholders on Zika. The aim is to strengthen early warning and reporting capacities, improve responses, and mitigate infectious diseases effectively. The study will also be used to measure the impact of the Zika Project that the Organisation and other partners have been implementing in the country.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Work to be performed
Output 1\: Inception report which includes a literature review, methodology, questionnaire(s)
Activity\: Conduct a desktop review as well as survey methodologies
Output 2\: Field study with key stakeholders
Activity\: Conduct meetings, observations, focus group discussions, interviews and use questionnaires with key stakeholders throughout the country.
Output 3\: Validated final report in Portuguese and English
Activity\: Conduct and lead a 3 days´ workshop with health staff and other key stakeholders where the Consultant will present the final draft report with results, analysis and recommendations in Portuguese.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential\:
Advanced university degree in social sciences, public health or related field.
Desirable\:
Masters in Social Sciences, Medicine or Public Health.
Experience
Essential\:- At least seven years´ experience of combined national and international professional experience.
- Proven experience of both qualitative and quantitative research, especially carrying out KAP studies in Guinea Bissau or within the region.

Use of language skills

Working knowledge of the other UN languages would be an asset.

a. The consultant will use their own IT Equipment
b. WHO will provide printing and other administrative support
c. Transport for the field work will be provided by WHO
d. WHO will provide a shared working space and internet
