Our Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking a motivated professional individual to join our Kyangwali operations immediately. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience of working in a humanitarian/ recovery context or equivalent, with a minimum of a Diploma in Public Health, Environmental Science /Water Engineering or relevant studies.
The candidate should be ready for immediate deployment.

Job description

Generic responsibilities
• Assist the Shelter/WASH officer in the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of WASH activities, including but not limited to construction of latrines, drainage and hygiene promotion
• Participate in gathering and compilation of project information (reports, assessments, baseline, monitoring and evaluation)
• Ensure community participation in all WASH activities including conducting community training and awareness promotion on hygiene
• Coordinate the construction project activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
• Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
• Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
• Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
• Coordinate with relevant partners
• Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
• Supervise, train and develop team
• Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required
• Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities

Specific responsibilities
• Carry out daily field visits to support other field staff on implementation of WASH.
• Assist in conduct water quality monitoring and advice accordingly on the quality on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
• Perform inspection of boreholes, shallow wells and water pumps and other water supply systems to ensure they are operational.
• Assist in major repairs and installation of new materials, supplies, machinery and/or equipment.
• Actively contribute to mobilization of beneficiary communities to maintain the established/ rehabilitated and protected water sources.
• Participate in preparing daily/ weekly/ monthly/ quarterly/annual highlights and end of project reports.
• Assisting in planning for project implementation including technical activity, financial and procurement planning.
• Assist in the preparation of WASH daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual reports and timely submission to relevant authorities.
• Work closely with Community Based Hygiene Promoters and local leaders to ensure proper dissemination of information on water issues to beneficiaries for improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience from working WASH in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Minimum of a Diploma in Environment Health Science, water engineering, Public Health background WASH related course from recognized institution. Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in implementing WASH project
• Demonstrated skills in computer programs (Word, Excel; minimum)
• Proven skills in report writing and meeting dead lines
• Proven ability to manage large varied workloads and deal constructively with stress and periods with long hours.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work with limited supervision
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, Knowledge of Swahili is an added advantage
