SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:

Under close supervision of nursing director, the incumbent is responsible for regular and accurate check up of clients. Take care of IPD patients according to medical practitioner’s advice; provide health education, registration of OPD patients follow standard MoPH treatment guidelines and perform night duties do nursing related activities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Qualification from a medical institute
  • At least three years’ experience in the relevant field
  • EPHS experience will be an additional asset
  • Good communication and interpersonal sill
  • Must be fluent in local language especially (Pashto)
  • Understanding of English language is desirable
  • Good team work spirit
  • Being an Afghan citizen

Main Responsibilities:

  • To manage all x-ray activities.
  • To control the electricity and other parts of x-ray machine.
  • Taking of x-rays in proper system and avoidance of X-ray films wastage.
  • Make monthly report and balance of used films.
  • Counsel and educate patients, the family, and community, in relevant areas of health.
  • Obtain specialized assistance as necessary (consultation or referral).
  • Share knowledge, skill, and expertise with medical, midwifery and nursing students.
  • Follow & established departmental policies, procedures and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiative
  • Participate in provision of 24-hour, six-day maternity service, which may require evening, night.
  • Attending all necessary meeting, workshop and training.
  • Identify and report immediately any problem which interferes in the delivery of services
  • Participate in weekly meeting of health facility to share information and discuss the program progress
  • Order all necessity of x-ray department on time to the line manager.
  • Use uniform while on duty
