The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a motivated professional individual to join our Syria Response Office’s operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in related programming in post-conflict environment along with experience of implementing partnership programming, remotely in conflict settings.

We are particularly looking for an individual with strong skills in sourcing, developing and delivering trainings, with knowledge about own leadership skills.

Generic responsibilities

  1. Line management for Partnership staff
  2. Member of the Area Management Group
  3. Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and handbooks and donor/auditor requirements
  4. Provide input on Partnership  to Area Plan of Action, and to coordinate and align operational support with programme plans at Area level
  5. Responsible for ensuring quality support to project implementation.
  6. Facilitate Area  Partnership Budget, area level budgets, including Partnership cost
  7. Responsible for Implementation  of new country specific technical SOPs, guidelines and  tools in Area
  8. Responsible for technical capacity building of Partnership staff

Specific responsibilities

  • Ensure the NRC’s partnership approach is effectively applied.
  • Connect and support staff within the NRC programme and support teams to ensure minimum standards for compliance
  • Support and share learning and promote a culture of open and equal partnership
  • Support the development and application of NRC’s partnership approach, including tools for organizational assessment and performance management.
  • Take leadership on facilitating partner processes including: Organisational Assessments, Performance Assessments, Strategic Partnership Agreements, and Strategic Partner Capacity Assessments
  • Take a proactive approach to improve partnership functions and workflow within NRC projects, paying particular attention to ensuring effective networking and relationships between support and program teams Work with Project and Support managers to:
    • Develop objective, systematic organizational capacity assessment tools to assess strategic partner capacity development needs
    • Develop capacity building plans for each partner including identifying the appropriate modalities for capacity development, and monitor the implementation of these plans.
    • Support Project and Support managers in the identification of NRC and partner staff capacity needs and support the training coordinators to address them with training, coaching and mentoring schemes.
  • Engage in networking and information gathering that contributes to NRC’s ability to make strategic and informed decisions regarding partnership in support of NRC’s programmatic goals.
  • Map existing and potential partners and maintain the partnership database
  • Keep a record of contractual commitments (such as payments to be released etc.) and make sure that they are respected by the partner and by NRC.
  • Ensure that the PIAs, amendments (or any other partnership documents) are signed on a timely manner and properly archived.
