To enhance UNICEF Muscat, OMAN Country Office effective communication while delivering key reporting obligations.  UNICEF uses reports and websites to communicate and advocate for children’s rights; sharing information and engaging with the public about UNICEF programmes and operations, and conducting online fundraising in the country.

Writing reports is essential for UNICEF Office in communicating and advocating for children’s rights. Therefore, it is important that reports are well managed and are public-facing whether or not they are UNICEF-branded. They also apply to public-facing websites, managed by, or on behalf of, UNICEF for multi-stakeholder partnerships (even if there is no UNICEF branding).

The Report Writer is a person who writes content reports for UNICEF. He/she will work closely with the Representative. The quality is an important factor; therefore, poor quality, repetitive contents may cause problems.

This assignment requires a combination of different skills: report writing for different audiences that are important partners to UNICEF; ability to review various sources and identify key data and information for reporting rapidly but thoroughly; good writing skill; and good knowledge on OMAN’s context. A dedicated consultant is being sought, as the tasks need to be completed in a short period of time and the Office does not have the capacity to do so at this stage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Advanced university degree in Sociology, Development Studies or any other related field.
  • Two (2) years of work experience in development at international organization(s).
  • Ability to identify key data and technical information from various reports and other sources, and present it in a manner that is less technical.
  • Experience or at least knowledge of OMAN context.
  • Knowledge on development aspects in OMAN and the Gulf Area Region.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with UN agencies and governments would be an asset.
  • Fluency in English (ability to write reports in clear and readable language); Arabic would be an asset.
