Under the direct authority of the Chief, Infrastructure and Operations Structure, the incumbent will be responsible for IT activities related to the availability, integrity, security and confidentiality of business information in compliance with UNESCO's security policies and procedures. In particular, s/he will be expected to perform the following tasks\:

  • Implement the Organization's information security policies and procedures. Monitor internal control systems including security and patch management to ensure that appropriate information access levels and security clearances are maintained.
  • Monitor compliance with the Organization's security policies and procedures among employees, contractors and other third parties and take corrective action. Manage information security incident response, investigate, and prevent future computer security breaches. Perform ongoing information risk assessment and audits.
  • Provide information security awareness training and information. Develop and provide training initiatives to educate staff about information risks.
  • Follow up on the IT security audit results and implement the recommendations made by the auditors. 
  • Participate in and make proposals for the definition of new security and ICT related policies and standards aiming to achieve proper and efficient use of ICT resources. Monitor advancements in information security technologies. Participate in the development, implementation and continuous update of the Organization's disaster recovery and business continuity plans for information systems and tests readiness.

 

 

EDUCATION

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or in a related field. A first level university degree in combination with three additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in Information Security, of which preferably 1 year acquired at international level.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Proven technical skills in Intranet/Internet technologies, TCP/IP based networking, IT security measures.
  • Risk management as applied to networks/telecom.
  • Remote support, administration of offsite networks.
  • Integrity, reliability and sense of commitment.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present findings clearly and concisely.
  • Proven conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and to maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural and multi- sectoral environment.


LANGUAGES

  • Excellent knowledge of English or French and fair knowledge of the other language.
