The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Purpose of the job:
The security assistant will periodically assign facility to identify any irregulaties, observe protection and fire control equipment, uphold order, and inforce regulations for the facility and regard to the premises and supervising the guards personal and visitors.

Job description

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement delegated CC project portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
  • Monitor and assess the security situation
  • Inform and make recommendations to SA and other staff about travel authorisation considerations.
  • Conduct area, site, program risk assessments and produce the relevant report to NRC standards
  • Be prepared to conduct weekly security briefings
  • Be prepared to have security induction brief with new staff and visitors
  • Be prepared to participate or represent NRC in internal and external meetings
  • Produce weekly reports, incident reports and special reports on demand and according to the security management plan.
  • Monitor and assess the security situation in Khost and relevant area
  • Administrate incoming TARs for Khost and relevant area
  • Conduct area, site and program risk assessments in Khost and relevant area and other parts of the country if required
  • Update the district risk map once a week before the weekly security brief
  • Supervise the guards and radio operators and manage the radio room to NRC standards including follow up on the performance of the guards and radio operators tasking according to their JDs
  • Be prepared to conduct weekly security briefings in Khost office
  • Be prepared to have security induction brief with new staff and visitors arriving in Khost
  • Be prepared to participate or represent NRC in internal and external meetings
  • Send the weekly report to SFP in Kabul country office as per security plan
  • Fulfilling any other related tasks that may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor level education is required.
  • Experience from working as security assistant, security manager or similar
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • MS office (word, excel and power point)
  • Fluency in English and local language, both written and verbal
  • Area knowledge Khost and relevant area
  • Knowledge about security related actors in Khost and relevant area
