POSITION DESCRIPTION 
 
Title:   MRE/Survey Coordinator 
Location:  Aden, with frequent travel to the south governorates. 
Start of Contract & Duration: 01 April- 31 December 2018, renewal subject to performance and fund availability. 
 
BACKGROUND
 
DRC began working in Yemen in 2008 in response to the mixed migration flows from the Horn of Africa. Since then it expanded its sectors of intervention, and is now providing humanitarian assistance in eight governorates throughout the country. DDG Yemen was established in January 2012 as a response to the fighting and displacement in the country. DDG initially focused its Mine Risk Education (MRE) activities on Internally Displaced People (IDP), with special emphasis on children.
 
PURPOSE 
 
The overall objective of the MRE/Survey coordinator is plan and implement of MRE and non-technical survey projects, coordination, supervision, reporting and conduct QA ongoing MRE operation that carried out in Yemen. Analyze the data collected in these activities and report provide to DDG program coordinator in Yemen. Provide technical and administrative support for MRE/Survey TLs and filed trainers..  
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Responsibilities: (in bullet points)
• Responsible for overall management, planning and implementation of MR/survey projects activities. 
• Design, create where necessary update MRE training materials and provide MRE training for field trainers. 
• Report provide about MRE/Survey activities, plans and challenges to DDG program coordinator monthly base. 
• Regularly visit and appraise work of the MRE/Survey teams in the locations of operation, providing support and feedback.  
• Ensure that survey teams member and MRE field trainers have good communication and coordination with local authorities and other stakeholders during their work. 
• Conduct QA visits from the field and make sure that all the activities are conducted according to the approved plan and SOP. 
• Collect and compile mine/UXO victim (children) information during community visits by MRE & survey teams and report provide to DRC child protection program. 
• Lead and organize monthly coordination meeting with all filed staff (Survey and MRE field trainers). 
• Keep monthly record of MRE and survey teams’ progress and activities. 
• Liaise with YEMAC, DRC programs, partners and stakeholders during the implementation of MRE/survey projects.   
• Conduct assessment where DDG has plan to design new project with coordination of local authority and YEMAC. 
• Assist MRE and survey TLs and field trainers when they need admin, logistic support (MRE materials, survey equipment, vehicle, stationery …)  
• Responsible to develop and update MRE and Survey training packages and syllabize time by time as per requirement.  
• Attend weekly area coordination meetings in DRC DDG office Aden. 
• Conduct and provide proper training to MRE and survey new hired staff and provide refresh training in each month to those teams. 
• Attend monthly mine action technical working group meeting facilitate by UNDP and UNICEF. 
• Attend MRE and protection cluster related meeting facilitate by any UN or INGOs in Aden.   
• Assist the DDG project Manager in proposal and report writing and undertake any other tasks directed by them.
 
QUALIFICATION  & EXPERIENCE
 
• 4 years’ experience in mine action program (Survey and MRE) 
• 2-year experience in the management and implementation of project  
• Excellent negotiation and communication skill. 
• Willing and able to travel and work in remote area. 
• Must be Professional in report writing and using of Email and computer 
• Excellent data analysis skill. 
• Excellent capacity in development of MRE and NTS training packages and provide Training of Trainers (ToT).  
• Excellent skill and experience in the field of developing MRE materials and survey MRE SOPs. 
• Bachelor degree from university in relevant field, prefer to master degree 
• Native Arabic.  
• Professional English language skills – speaking, reading and writing.
