As a non-governmental social development organisation we support children without parental care and families in difficult living conditions through services in care, education, health and emergency relief, and we advocate for the rights of children and young people, in alliance with a great diversity of partners. We work in 135 countries and territories, reaching over one million children, young people, families and caregivers each year. EU Partnership Development Advisor (f/m)

38 hours/week

 

Location: Institutional Partnership Development (IPD) / Brussels/Belgium

 

Mission

The EU Partnership Advisor works as an member of the Institutional Partnership Development (IPD) EU Team, part of the IPD Team across the SOS Children’s Villages International (CVI) General Secretariat (GSC) and supports federation members to engage with European Union Institutions in Brussels and worldwide and to effectively apply for and manage EU grants in order to significantly diversify and augment the financial resources available to support SOS CV programmes. The EU Partnership Advisor is based in Brussels (Belgium) and represents SOS CVI towards the EU as well as in different stakeholder networks.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse EU development cooperation trends and funding and manage relationships with EU institutions and civil society organisations and networks in Brussels and represent SOS CV as an expert actor
  • Support EU Partnership Development activities of SOS CV member associations
  • Coordinate EU funding application processes and support throughout the whole project cycle with a view on delivering high quality EU projects worldwide and regularly inform the SOS CV grant management system and other SOS CV working groups/projects as well as SOS CV strategy and management decision making with EU funding requirements and practice
  • Inform ,develop and apply operational standards and processes that facilitate EU project management and carry out trainings as required
  • Foster a culture of cooperation and exchange in the federation and support communication activities
  • Develop briefings, concept notes, minutes, speaking points, presentations, newsletter items, virtual collaboration pages and contribute to reports etc

 

Requirements

  • Academic background in a relevant discipline (International Relations, Political Science, EU studies, Human Rights etc.)
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in an international context, field experience a strong asset
  • Excellent knowledge of the EU institutions, structures, policies, procedures an funding mechanisms
  • Awareness and interest on promoting and supporting children’s rights and the SOS CV mission
  • Grant management experience and knowledge of EU rules considered a strong asset
  • Strong analytical capacity and project management skills; ability to organize and manage your own work and workload, solution oriented
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and French; knowledge of other language(s) is a distinct advantage
  • Full computer literacy
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • EU citizenship or labour permit for Belgium required
