This advertisment is for two positions, one based at the Lilongwe Country Office, the another one at the Blantyre Sub Office.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University Degree in Nutrition or  Public Health.

Language Fluency (level C) in English language

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of the Nutritionist, and overall guidance of the head of Nutrition, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the nutrition treatment services including community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and nutrition care support and treatment (NCST).

  1. Support the development of nutrition projects and activities, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with WFP and national wider nutrition policies and guidance.
  2. Oversee the implementation of Community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and Nutrition care support and treatment (NCST) components,
  3. Provide technical support to MOH and field monitors on CMAM and NCST implementation.
  4. Facilitate the organization of required training in CMAM and NCST for both for WFP staff and partners;
  5. Facilitate timely preparation of distribution plans for CMAM and NCST programmes.
  6. In liasion with the VAM unit prepare monthly mVAM reports.
  7. Facilitate timely preparation of nutrition situation reports.
  8. Support the nutritionist in development of nutrition donor reports.
  9. Ensure closer look for CMAM and NCST commodities pipeline to avoid stockouts and commodity loss at both facility and warehouse.
  10. Act as a point of contact between Nutrition unit and Lilongwe sub office.
  11. Represent WFP at targeted nutrition programme (TNP) technical working group

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrates  ability  to  identify  key  variables  and  contextual  factors  that  affect  food and nutrition assistance  problems  and  programmes  throughout  the lifecycle  to  inform  quality programme design or re-design.
  • Able to appropriately interpret the nutrition situation, analyze primary causes of malnutrition, define limitations to the analysis and prepare an overview of the food security and nutrition situation in country.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyse and consolidate quantitative and qualitative information from different sources to inform transfer modality selection and programme development.
  • Leverages nutrition knowledge to provide technical advice to governments to design and implement country nutrition programmes that follow international and WFP agency standards and guidance.
  • Develops thorough recommendations using multiple inputs (e.g., government counsel, research, own   experience)   to   strengthen   national   or   subnational   entities   and government owned food and nutrition security programmes.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Has gained experience in implementing technical programs (i.e. nutrition, etc.).
  • Has worked in health or nutrition programming with a focus on CMAM and NCST programmes.
  • Has worked with either INGOs, government and UN agencies in implementation of nutrition activities
